Rev. Joseph Emile Aubin, 84, of DeWitt Michigan, died Wednesday, April 15th 2020 at his DeWitt residence. Fr. Joe was born to Arthur and Marguerite (Miller) Aubin on Aug 15, 1935 in Richmond, Indiana.
Fr. Joseph Aubin lived life well for God and others. Fr. Joe’s theme for his priesthood might very well be quoted from Scripture, John 15:14 “…I call you friends.” A tapestry he completed reads, “Friendship doesn’t come from any one big thing; friendship comes from a million little things.” These words informed Fr. Joe’s priesthood with faith and trust in God's loving care and instilled a sense of humility and willingness to do God's will.
He concluded his seminary education at St. John Provincial Seminary in Plymouth, Michigan. He was ordained to the priesthood for the Diocese of Lansing June 3rd, 1961.
Following his ordination on June 3rd, 1961, he was assigned associate pastor at St Paul’s Catholic Church in Owosso. His subsequent assignments included St Phillips Parish in Battle Creek, St Leo the Great Parish in Flint, St Isidore Parish in Laingsburg, St John Parish in Davison and St Mary Catholic Church in Durand, where he was pastor until his retirement.
Preceding him in death were his parents Arthur and Marguerite (Miller) Aubin; his brother
Henry Aubin, a Brother of the Sacred Heart; his sisters, Sister Michael Ann, O.S.F. (Eleanor) and Mary Ann Courchaine.
Surviving are his sister, Lillian (Lily) Mendenhall and his cousin, Loupatti Miller. Also surviving are nieces and nephews.
Throughout his life, Fr. Joe was always very grateful to Lily and Loupatti, his brother priests,
especially those in his ordination class; and Fr. Denis Spitzley, Fr Jerry Ploof, parishioners and friends for their love, support and trust. To God belongs praise, honor, and glory for all eternity.
