WRSR-FM, more commonly known as 103.9 The Fox, has been handing out some cash to people throughout mid-Michigan and the latest winner, Travis Turnbull, is from Durand. As part of the radio station's "$5,000 Cash Giveaway," listeners were invited on air to call and qualify to become a finalist. 80 qualifiers from throughout mid-Michigan each won $25 to spend at Captain's Quarters Lounge in Burton, and the chance to choose a key that could open a chest containing $5,000.
The Fox had already given away $10,000 to two recent winners, and this past Tuesday, the latest qualifiers met at Captain's Quarters to vie for the big prize. It was Travis's key that opened the chest, and that $5k couldn't have come at a better time, since Travis is also the proud dad of a brand new baby.
103.9 The Fox is licensed to Owosso and is mid-Michigan's only locally-owned radio station today, and even though there aren't deep corporate pockets powering the station, The Fox is still making it rain.
Program Director and afternoon drive personality, Jeremy Fenech, told Durand Now that the station is already doing it again, taking qualifiers now. Get more at classicfox.com.
The Fox has also been handing hundreds to teachers throughout mid-Michigan as part of "Sly Loves to Learn," where students nominate their favorite "Teachers That Rock" to be recognized by the station's mascot, Sly Fox. The latest winning teacher is Ms. Parker from Big Rock Elementary School in Chesaning.
