1225 Passengers To Be Transported By Bus After Freight Train Derails in Owosso, Blocks Tracks

Numerous cars from a freight train are laying on their side after a derailment in downtown Owosso area of Cass and Cedar streets. We're told the derailment involves 10 cars total, but not all of the cars tipped over.

The popular North Pole Express excursion led by the Pere Marquette 1225 took passengers to the village of Ashley early in the evening. Passengers were transported by buses back to Owosso as the 1225 remained stuck behind the derailment.
Steam Railroading Institute announced late Saturday night that Sunday morning's excursion has been rescheduled for Sunday November 25th at 5pm. For passengers unable to make the rescheduled trip, refunds will be offered.
