Featuring selections from Les Miserables, Fall Out Boy, and Queen, the show 'Last Day On Earth' engaged and delighted audiences and judges all season long.
The band consistently placed among the top in their flight, and competing against the state's ten top marching bands in Flight V at Ford Field, the Durand Marching Railroaders scored 86.650 to land in fifth place, behind bands from West Michigan schools.
Godwin Heights scored 89.050 for first place and took two captions; Music and General Effect. Behind Godwin Heights was Newaygo, who also captured the caption for Visual. Kent City and Belding rounded out the top four.
Behind Durand, more excellent programs from Watervliet, Comstock Park, Buchanan, Howard City (Tri County) and Muskegon (Orchard View).
At the top of the other MCBA flights in the contest was Lakeshore (Stevensville) in Flight IV, Reeths-Puffer in Flight III, Jenison in Flight II and Rockford in Flight I.
The band will march one last time on the evening of Monday November 12th as part of the Shiawassee County Veterans Day parade, to be held in downtown Owosso beginning at 5:30pm.
The band then moves into concert season with upcoming holiday performances as well as festival and solo and ensemble contests.
