If your house isn't lit and you want in on this year's Durand Lions Club Holiday Light Competition, you'd better head out and start stringing those lights.  Judging for this year's contest is this Saturday, December 14th at 7pm.

There's no sign up required, but there are some rules: participating homes must be a residence located in the city limits of Durand.  No businesses allowed.  And Lions Club members are not eligible.

There's more to the story! Keep reading!

The criteria for judging is as follows:

• Overall effect (volume, placement and effect of lights)

• Actual lights must be incorporated into the display (display may not be exclusively made up of inflatables, decorations or "Star Shower"-type light projectors, however these elements may be included in the display)

• Unique elements incorporated into display, such as use of motion lights or musically synchronized lights in the display

Judges for the competition are volunteers from the Durand Area Lions Club, and there's dough on the line!

This year's first place winner will get $150.  Second place is $100 and third place gets $50.  Additionally, two top 20 non-placing displays will be randomly drawn and awarded a $25 sponsor gift card.  Sponsors of this year's event are Ed's Standard Service and The Iron Horse Pub.

Forget the drive thru, unless you're really taking that order "to go."
