Celebrating its milestone 10th season, television’s No. 1 cooking show, MasterChef, will air two nights per week, kicking off tonight at 8pm on FOX 66 and joining the Thursday lineup on Thursday, June 20th at 8pm.
This season, the judges – award-winning chef Gordon Ramsay, acclaimed chef Aarón Sánchez and renowned restaurateur Joe Bastianich – take the series to new heights, selecting just 20 incredible home cooks from a batch of top-notch culinary talent. One of those "food entrepreneurs," as she refers to herself, is Liz Linn of Durand.
A farm girl, Linn, known in high school as Liz Zdunic, graduated from Durand in 1983 and moved to Ft. Lauderdale, she told Durand Now just hours ahead of the show's Wednesday night premiere.

When MasterChef was auditioning in Chicago last September, Linn, having recently moved back to the Durand area, hopped an Amtrak from Durand Union Station to the Chicago audition.
She noted the significance of taking the train from Durand, since her mother, Margaret, was one of the people that worked tirelessly to save the depot from demolition in the late 1970s. The depot, now home to the Michigan Railroad History Museum, is one of the most photographed depots in America, and is the cherished centerpiece of the city.
Linn prepared her Yugoslavian grandmother's famous "sarma" (stuffed cabbage) for her audition, slow cooking the dish in Crock pots as she traveled on the train.
Only 20 will remain in the field of competitors after next week's second and final auditions episode, but Linn said viewers will know tonight if she moves on.
Throughout the season, the home cooks will face a series of challenges, including cooking for a 10th anniversary pool party, catering a former MasterChef winner’s wedding reception, feeding ravenous NASCAR drivers at the Irwindale Speedway and, for the first time ever, traveling to the U.K., to take over dinner service at Chef Ramsay’s flagship London restaurant, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay. Tough competition, surprise guests and many challenges are in store, with one home cook ultimately claiming the title of MasterChef, the $250,000 grand prize and, for the first time in the show's history, an opportunity to learn hands-on in each of the judge’s restaurants.
One other contestant this season is from Michigan. 19 year old Micah Yaroch from Grand Rapids is the season's youngest competitor.
MasterChef airs tonight at 8pm on FOX 66.
