The 2019 Durand Railroad Days Royalty Crowning Ceremony was held on Friday March 1st at Durand Union Station.  At the ceremony, Durand senior, Emily Hartzell, was crowned Miss Railroad Days 2019.  Madison Dagen, a DHS junior, was named 2019 Attendant.

The ceremony was held in the depot's Grand Ballroom.

Queen contestants were asked to write a speech on why interest in the annual Miss Railroad Days contest has waned in recent years.  Both speeches were well articulated, and a significant portion of each focused on insufficient advertising of the contest, specifically, online advertising.

Additionally, the role's significant commitment throughout the year, such as attending various parades and events, was also addressed as a challenge for many girls that might otherwise participate.

The evening also included a short interview with each candidate.

At the evening event, the 2019 Princess and Prince were also crowned.  7 year old Sophia Latreille was named Princess and 7 year old Jaxon Weiske was crowned Prince.

This year's panel of Judges was made up of Sue Akers (Rancho Grande Restaurant), Chrissy Andre (Durand Lioness Club), Kelly French (Randy Wise) and Ted Hamilton (Durand Railroad Days).

Also at the event were outgoing royalty, Queen Haley Zdunic, Attendant Madison Pellman, Princess Na'kia Tate and Prince Ricky Taljonick, who passed their respective crowns on to their successors and offered a final farewell and thank you.
