Kayli Konarski moved to Las Vegas six months ago to attend the Theater Arts Preparatory School ("TAPS"), "a six-month trade school designed to help young dancers transition from competition dancing to a professional career," Konarski told Durand Now recently.
But on March 1st, Kayli's Las Vegas routine made a quick change, after she responded to an open casting call for Vegas! The Show. She said around 60 girls responded to the call for female dancers 5'5 and above, but by the end of the day, she was one of only 15 remaining. Three days later, she was asked to come back for a callback. That's when she realized she was one of just ten remaining girls.
After a series of auditions, including performances for David Saxe Productions CEO, David Saxe, the ten girls were asked if they could sing. Kayli was one of only three who could.
The callback audition ended and the girls were told they would know within a few days if they would be joining the show.
More like a few hours for Kayli.
Konarski, a Kathy's School of Dance alum, says the company manager called her within hours and offered her a full time dancer positiion, performing five nights a week, two shows a night. Her six month contract begins Monday night, when she performs for the first time with the show at the Saxe Theater at the Planet Hollywood Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.
"I could not be more excited," Kayli told Durand Now.
