Mark Latunski, a 50 year old Morrice resident, charged in connection with the death of 25 year old Swartz Creek resident, Kevin Bacon, was transported to a local hospital for medical evaluation after failing to respond to deputies calls, Sheriff BeGole told Durand Now on Tuesday night. BeGole said Latunski was breathing normally and when deputies used smelling salts, he came around quickly.

BeGole said that due to Latunski's food consumption being down since Friday, the decision was made to have him evaluated. He was returned to the jail a short time later.

There's more to the story! Keep reading!

It was reported elsewhere that Latunski has been on a hunger strike since entering the jail. BeGole did say that Latunski has recently been consuming less but said calling it a hunger strike is "really stretching it."

BeGole also noted that his office could not confirm to local media that it was Latunski being transported to the hospital as it was happening "for obvious security reasons," but now wants to correct and clarify inaccurate reports that were published.

There's a lot more from Durand Now to see and hear, including this week's top stories! Keep going!

Season 3 Episode 1: The Chair - 1.24.20

Two years ago Josh Strickland purchased an antique chair that purportedly spent decades in the old Owosso Post Office. Today a photo was shared in the Historic Owosso Facebook group. In the photo, a man is sitting in a similar chair. While the thread attempts to figure out who is pictured and where in Owosso the photo was taken, one user suggests that it may have been in the old post office.
