At a special Friday night coronation ceremony at the historic Durand Union Station, Durand senior, Sophie Pawloski, was crowned Miss Railroad Days 2016. Vying for the title among two other candidates, a panel of judges decided that Pawloski's speech, interview and other pre-ceremonial elements, set her apart from the other contestants.
Also competing for the title were Carly Gross, the sister of Harper Gross, the 2015 Miss Railroad Days Attendant, and Tierra Barren. Carly Gross was named 2016 Attendant, receiving her sash from and having the crown passed to her by her sister.
The 2016 Railroad Days Princess and Prince were also crowned that night. Jenna Wilburn was selected from a field of nine candidates to represent the City of Durand for the next twelve months at various social and community functions, alongside the Railroad Days Queen and Attendant. Joining them will be Joseph Earegood, who won the title of 2016 Railroad Days Prince in a two-candidate contest.
The 41st Annual Railroad Days Festival will be held May 12th through 15th, 2016, in downtown Durand.
