Swartz Creek Schools will be closed on Tuesday January 29th, joining numerous districts throughout mid-Michigan cancelling classes as a winter storm moves out of the region, leaving behind several inches of snow and windy conditions that will adversely impact Tuesday morning travel. Swartz Creek Superintendent Ben Mainka and High School Principal Jim Kitchen decided to announce the district's Tuesday closure in a video. The pair makes clear in the video that they would not fall victim to the "epidemic," as Mainka called it, that is administrators embarrassing themselves by wearing sunglasses and singing songs to announce a snow day.
But then the music begins to play.

Mainka is swept away almost immediately but Kitchen is able to break from the melody's magnetism. The tune pauses momentarily and Kitchen and Mainka attempt to regain composure, but when the music begins again, the sunglasses come out, and Mainka and Kitchen are no match for the bewitching of this head gear.
Mainka begins to sing. He's surprisingly good. Most administrators that become part of the epidemic aren't as talented as Mainka in the area of vocal performance. But the snow fort comes crashing down when Mr. Kitchen drops in with harmonies that will melt any igloo.
Watch the performance, which is already garnering rave reviews, below.
