The Durand Athletic Boosters Annual Golf Outing is set for Railroad Days weekend. On Sunday May 20th, the fundraising event that has already helped cover the cost of major weight room updates, the purchase of volleyball nets, wrestling mats, cross country course markers, finish line ropes, basketballs and more, takes over Dutch Hollow Golf Club. Wanna play? It's $60 per player ($240 per team) and the game includes hot dogs at the turn, dinner, closest to pin, longest drive, hole in one and putting contest and raffle items as well.
Registration will begin at 9:30am and tee-off will be at 10:30.
Hole sponsors and raffle items are being sought for the event as well. Hole sponsorships are $50 and the deadline is May 4th. Mail payments to Blair Pancheck, 8693 E Prior Rd., Durand MI 48429, or call Blair at 810-287-7944.

City officials and chamber menbers gathered at the corner of Saginaw and Clinton streets to celebrate -- officially -- the opening of Stomping Grounds Coffee Shop, under new ownership, with a ceremonial ribbon cutting.
Ernie and Nikole Hartzell took over the reigns of Stomping Grounds, located at 200 N Saginaw Street in downtown Durand, from Jason and Sherry Rathburn on January 2nd of this year. In the days prior, Nikole told Durand Now "It's been a dream of mine to open a bakery/coffee [shop]." She went on to say "We both feel it was meant to be," speaking both of her family and the Rathburns, who opened Stomping Grounds in May of 2015.
