Their faces tell the whole story.  Five Durand area girls, ages 9-11, hustled for three straight weekends preparing for their summer trip to nationals in Pigeon Forge Tennessee.  Their work paid off.  By the end of the Rainbow National Dance Competition, held this past July, Taylor Muzer, Allison Zdunic, Samantha Leydig, Madelyn Riley and Kaeleigh Cocke were pit against five other groups of dancers, both small and large.  But it was this group from Kathy's School of Dance that emerged National Grand Champions, taking the $250 prize and 8 foot tall trophy.  (Hope someone drove a van.)

Music and Memories -- that's what Saturday night, August 26th, at Optimist Park was all about.  That, and, raising money for Durand's Veterans Memorial Park.

An estimated eight to nine hundred fans, young and old, new and "old school," danced the night away to the sounds of 60s and 70s hits performed by friends and former classmates, all who were part of the garage band hey-day.
