While preparing for a move to a new location on Saginaw Street, Durand's favorite local pizza spot, Jim's Pizza, was forced to close unexpectedly on Tuesday due to a water line break in the upstairs apartment that impacted equipment and operations in the restaurant.  Early on Wednesday morning, owner Greg Martin confirmed to Durand Now that he will, regrettably, not reopen the Main Street location.  When Jim's Pizza reopens, it will be at the new location, in the former home of RS Green Insurance Agency, at 215 N. Saginaw Street.

In a Facebook post, Martin said "It is with regret that Jim’s Pizza will not be reopening at its current location of 216 W. Main Street due to circumstances beyond my control.  Jim’s Pizza will be reopening at our new location of 215 N. Saginaw Street in the near future. Currently I do not have a specific date as to when the opening will be,but I will continue to post updates until we reopen. Thank you for your patience and continued support and I look forward to seeing you at our new location soon!"

VIDEO: BALL DROPS IN OWOSSO...LITERALLY
Lit Ball Lowered to Ring in 2018 Breaks Loose and Slams Into Platform

Downtown Owosso

Despite bone-chilling sub-zero temperatures, hundreds of people poured onto downtown Owosso streets to usher in the new year with a Times Square-style ball drop.  The ball lowered in a seemingly usual fashion, but moments before midnight, seemed to get stuck.  Then, less than a minute after the clock struck midnight and Auld Lang Syne began playing; fireworks illuminating the sky, somehow the ball broke free and fell, crashing into the platform below.
