The Durand Marching Railroaders head to their first competition of the 2017 marching season, and their first under the direction of Nick Remesz.  The band will take the field at the Novi Invitational at Novi High School at 4:30pm for the performance of this year's show, "Contagion."

FUNERAL SATURDAY FOR 2015 DURAND GRAD KILLED IN WEEKEND CRASH
Evan Gardner Was On Motorcycle When Struck By SUV

Evan Stuart Gardner, a 2015 Durand graduate, passed away on Sunday as the result of a motorcycle accident.  The Detroit Free Press reports the Harrison Township crash happened at 5:50pm.  Gardner, whose motorcycle had the right of way, was struck by a Chevy Traverse.  Three teens in the vehicle had recently departed a L'Anse Creuse High School band practice.  They were not injured.

Gardner was pronounced dead at the scene.  He was 21 years old.

Funeral services will be held this Saturday at 11am at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, Durand Chapel,  Pastor Eric Johnson will officiate.
