Byron Area PTA is collecting gently worn, used and new shoes as part of a fundraiser for the organization.  The amount of money raised is determined by the total weight of the shoes collected.

Donated shoes will be redistributed to microenterprise partners through Funds2Orgs, a for profit social enterprise, and used in developing nations for impoverished people to start their own businesses.

Shoes can be dropped off at the Byron Elementary School office or at the Byron High School library.

Organizers say that in the US alone, over 600 million pairs are thrown away each year.  Donating your shoes to Byron's PTA will help give them a second chance to make a difference.

The fundraiser continues until November 10th.
