Train Derails In Downtown Durand

No Injuries When Freight Cars Tip

Shortly after 12pm on Wednesday June 24th, a Canadian National train moving through downtown Durand, experienced a derailment when four of the train's cars left the tracks, some tipping.

There were no injuries but two crossings in the downtown area were blocked for a period of time. The downtown Main Street and Oak Street crossings reopened after a little less than three hours.

The impacted cars were filled with soybeans. The train was headed toward Flint.
