37th Durand End of Summer Cruisin' To Celebrate America's 250th Birthday

Annual Durand Car Show Brings Hundreds of Classic Cars and Thousands of Spectators

The 37th Annual End of Summer Cruisin’ returns to downtown Durand on Saturday, September 5th, bringing classic cars, trucks, motorcycles, family activities and plenty of hometown fun to Saginaw Street.

Registration starts at 6:45am and the show begins at 10:00am. Award presentation is at 2:30pm.

Hosted by the Greater Durand Area Chamber of Commerce, End of Summer Cruisin’ has become a Labor Day weekend tradition, welcoming vehicle owners and spectators from throughout the area for a day of great vehicles, great people and community spirit.

More than 40 trophies will be presented during this year’s show, along with several special awards.

In addition to the Mike Fuja Memorial Trophy, honoring the Best Muscle Car, and new this year will be the Elmer Wolsfeld Memorial Trophy, honoring the Best Truck in the Show. The City of Durand Award will also recognize a special vehicle selected for the honor.
Motorcycles are welcome too! This year, motorcycles will have their own judging categories and awards, giving motorcycle owners even more reason to be part of the day.

First Congregational Church will be hanging out with the community and offering FREE hot dogs, water, snow cones and popcorn, along with a bounce house for the kids.

Thanks to the City of Durand, Art Hutchinson and Dutch Hollow Golf Course, spectators do not have to walk the Main St to Monroe Street show.

Free Coffee and Donuts for the drivers at the registration booths will be sponsored by the Crossing Church.

Book lovers will want to make a stop at the Durand Memorial Library, where the Friends of the Durand Memorial Library will host a book sale during the festivities.

The celebration continues at Iron Horse Park with special activities honoring America’s 250th Birthday. The baggage car and gate tower will be a great photo op. Adding another unique piece of Durand’s railroad history to this special community celebration. Jan Brownson of NRMI and Happy Birthday America Committee will be on hand to answer questions.

This year’s Cruisin’ proudly celebrates America’s 250th birthday with a patriotic “Happy Birthday America” theme, so expect plenty of red, white and blue throughout downtown Durand.
Whether you come to show off your vehicle, check out the cars and motorcycles, enjoy the 250th Birthday celebration, explore the baggage car, find a few books, bring the kids for some fun or simply spend the day with friends, there will be something for everyone.

The Durand community is reeling after the sudden loss of Bertha Neal School's beloved Principal, Robert Cawson. Cawson was involved in a two-vehicle collision on Saturday near the intersection of Durand and Lennon Roads.
