Janelle was born November 2, 1952, to Eugene and Mary Wend. Janelle grew up in Saint Charles, Michigan and was a proud member of the Bulldogs Marching Band during her school years, holding 1st chair as a trumpet player.
After graduating from high school, Janelle married Leonard Matznick on September 11, 1971. Leonard and Janelle have three children.
Once all the kids were in school, Janelle got a job at Krupp’s Novelty Shop in Lennon, MI. She worked there for many years and worked with many different people throughout the years.
Janelle spent most of her life living in Durand, MI with her husband and kids, and more recently in Corunna, MI with her husband.
Janelle passed away Sunday, September 13, 2026 at Durand Senior Care & Rehab Center. Memories of her will be carried in the hearts and minds of her husband Leonard; children Michael (Christina) Matznick of Lennon, Jeffrey Matznick of Durand, and Michele (James) Sowash of New Lothrop; grandchildren Brandon & Spencer Matznick and Claire Sowash. Also surviving are brothers Robert (Christine) Wend of Saginaw, Ronald Wend of Alford, FL, and Roger Wend of Charlotte.
Preceding her in death were her parents.
A funeral service to honor and celebrate her life will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, September 18, 2026 at Watkins Brothers Funeral Homes, 501 N. Saginaw St., Durand, MI 48429. Chaplain Ruth Wittum will officiate. Interment immediately following at Greenwood Cemetery, Vernon. The family will receive friends beginning at 11:00 AM until the time of service.
